Plein Air Still Life Painting at Perigaeux Vineyard and Winery

I’m grateful to have recently found a group of artists that get together weekly to paint outdoors. Each week the group finds a new spot to paint in the southern Maryland region. I invited them to come to Perigeaux Vineyard and Winery in St. Leonard to paint. One of them came up with the idea to set up a still life scene outdoors to paint, which I thought was a great idea because it kept us together and close to where customers would be able to spectate.

Setting up the scene was a collaborative effort. Each one of us brought some elements to include. I conveniently borrowed some bottles of wine from the tasting room.

And here’s what we each came up with. I love looking at our paintings together! We each had a slightly different view of the scene and that along with the different styles and color palette resulted in a fascinating variety and comparison of outcomes.

I took a video and made an instagram reel out of it. Check it out here!

And here’s what the painting I created looks like framed . .
