At the margins of the cosmos flies the bright flag of this yellow Iris.
Watercolor paper adhered to wood panel and attached to handmade floater frame. The painting is protected with Gamblin wax.
The floater frame is made of poplar and finished with a homemade iron acetate stain. Iron staining involves a reaction between iron oxide and the natural tannins in wood to create a natural-looking dark color that is created in the fibers of the wood rather than laying on the surface.
